MPS SEASON TWO HOUR 57

It's been some time since I posted a new podcast, an even longer time since I updated the blog... and I shout it out at the end of every episode, but then again I have yet to get anyone commenting or demonstrating that they read this, so I guess it's not that big of a deal. I've got a new logo for the podcast-- because of its schizophrenic nature (being both an audio podcast and a video series as well) I made the logo a little more friendly to the naked ol' eye. Unfortunately, for now, we are no longer on Apple Podcast. I intend to correct that issue very soon. I didn't even notice that they weren't carrying this podcast anymore, that's how out of the loop I've been. Since it's been a while, I'll take this opportunity to promote Buzzsprout, a platform I've been using to house the MPS podcast since the beginning of last year, before the pandemic really kicked in. I was still actively doing the podcasts up until a few months ago; I had some of the usual life changes that seem to never stop for me. I had to adjust to all this COVID-related awkwardness. I'm finally in a comfortable place where I can follow through on ideas for podcasts and future content. I think this episode's "music history/lesson" format will be a new angle for me. I think it's what I always wanted to do with this podcast but got carried away with so many trivial aspects. I hope it is educational and eye-opening. Buzzsprout You Tube Soundcloud Archive.org

Welcome to my podcast blog. I originally set this up to get an RSS feed for my podcast, but decided that it was easier to use Soundcloud for that. However, as I learn more and more about how to podcast and what's the best/most cost-effective way to do it, things may change. I can be a troll if need be... not proud of it... who am I fooling, I love it. But it's not sustainable: eventually you just want to be able to go online and NOT start a fight with a perfect stranger. I am not looking to get in people's faces constantly, but sometimes THEY bring it to YOU. And so it helps to be able to handle your own in an online squabble. I have great admiration for artists who can handle their own in the real world. Audiences (even the paying ones) aren't always hospitable to performers, especially if alcohol is involved. Hecklers can get a sense of entitlement and decide that THEY, and not the person on the marquee, is worthy of attention. In my opinion, a good live perfoemer can squash that beef in no time flat. It just takes the guts to redirect that energy right back at the perpetrators. Going on stage is not as easy as it looks-- it can be gut-wrenching and anxiety-inducing. This week I just threw together a playlist of songs that are in my MP3 player in my vehicle. I have titled this episode "What's BJ Fornicatti Got In His MP3 Player?" As lazy as this sounds, I actually put some thought into this: dubbed as an Emergency Backup Hour in case I wasn't able to put together a real podcast, I actually took the time to make sure the songs segued properly into each other. I also had to make some changes here and there, as I ended up pillaging songs from the playlist for other hours; indeed, this backup show has been in the can for a few weeks now, and since I'm in the middle of moving house for the first time in 6 years I haven't had any time to devote to normal operating procedures. I had a few interviews fall through, mostly due to my own distracted state of mind, which is no one's fault but mine... so this is what we have today.
